In a distant and beautiful land far, far away,
sprites, nymphs and fairies do frolic and play.
They twirl and they fly,
leaving earth for the sky.
Round and round they go,
flying high, flying low.
Dressed in shimmering, billowing cloth,
they count friends a plenty including a moth.
One day a stranger appeared in the glade,
standing still as a statue as if covered by shade.
Stop did the sprites, nymphs and fairies to look,
down sat the stranger and opened a book.
Quiet and careful they gathered round,
to sneak a peak without a sound.
Still was the stranger for minutes on end,
then suddenly he spoke a lyrical thread.
“Dear sprites, nymphs and fairies many hello’s to you,
my name is Sir Scott come join me, please do.”
Giggles and laughter they did make,
flying and twirling for fantasy’s sake.
Never before did such an invite come,
failing of course the rays of the sun.
Slowly the sprites, nymphs and fairies did sit,
next to Sir Scott for just this short bit.
So said he to the sprites, nymphs, and fairies,
“Long have I traveled, now I am weary.”
As quiet as quiet they did listen,
as Sir Scott told them of his true mission.
“To share with you sprites, nymphs, and fairies far and wide,
the joy and happiness your enchantments provide.”
He told tales of kingdoms far to the east,
about happy children who gamed and imagined with ease.
Cross rivers and fields, over mountains, through valleys,
every child alive had experienced their dallies.
On did he speak about their happiness spreading,
tales and fables, which seemed unending.
Story after story he told with great excite,
filling the sprites, nymphs, and fairies hearts with delight.
“Now,” said he, “away must I go,
for other sprites, nymphs and fairies must know.”
As quick as a sprite he sprang to his feet,
taking flight on the wind as fairies do seek.
Every nymph in the land gazed wide with wonder,
when not a trace of Sir Scott was left to ponder.
Thinking proud thoughts of a job well done,
on went the sprites, nymphs, and fairies creating more fun.
The End
